The 2016 Chateau Saint Pierre wine is fantastic, offering lots of fresh tobacco and blackcurrants and undertones of hazelnuts and chocolate. This Chateau Saint Pierre wine is full-bodied with firm and chewy tannins, yet ever so polished and refined. One of the most structured St. Pierre’s in years. The Chateau Saint Pierre 2016 has a blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc. Best from 2025 through 2040.
This Chateau Saint Pierre wine is a Fourth Classified Growth of 1855 produced in the Saint-Julien appellation. At an average age of 50, the vines are planted on a 17-hectare vineyard in Günz gravel and a sandy-clay subsoil. The wine is aged in casks (50% new) for an average of 14 to 16 months.
