The emblem of Dulong is closely linked to the history of Bordeaux and particularly to the King Richard the Lionheart’s coat of arms, duke of Aquitania from 1169 to 1196, son of Henry II Kind of England and of Aliénor of Aquitania. Richard the Lionheart grew up in Aquitania and was very attached to this region. His nickname, Richard the Lionheart, was given to him by the French for his courage and his character. The Dulong family adopted the lion as coat of arms for the family in 1873. The lion represents pride, strength and audacity, the main characteristics of the personality of Richard the Lionheart. These are the values that have allowed the Dulong family to build up a company that is recognised today throughout the world thanks to the quality and the variety of its wines.
