The 2014 Le Marquis de Calon Segur displays great depth of colour with an impenetrable inky black core and a deep dark purple black hue. Inky blackcurrant, black cherry and subtle liquorice aromas are married to cigar box, scorched earth and spicy dried herb notes. Becoming more expressive as it warms up in the glass, there’s excellent weight and richness to the palate, yet it still retains a sense of elegance. Mouthfilling flavours of ripe blackcurrant, black cherries and liquorice are to the fore under scored by cigar box, scorched earth and spice. Tightly knit with a dry finish and firm tannin structure providing some grip. Long aftertaste of ripe blackcurrant, liquorice, cigar box, scorched earth and spice.
