Description
This 2020 Craggy Range Gimblett Gravels Sophia wine has a deep dark red. The perfume is intoxicating with ripe blueberry overlaying cinnamon, brioche and a hint of leafy varietal lingering in the background. The palate sits upright and all-encompassing. The red wine tannins’s are long and silky, flavour concentrated and ripe, the finish endless the hallmarks of one of the great Sophia’s.
The 2020 Craggy Range Sophia wine has a refined and elegant hand-crafted Merlot dominant blend that represents both the vigneron’s art and an inherent understanding of the land, ensuring ‘Sophia’ is the finest expression of the terroir and the people. ‘Sophia’, meaning ‘wisdom’ in Greek mythology, pays tribute to the goddess of knowledge and experience, information and understanding – a philosophy adopted by our winemakers and viticulturists when crafting this wine.
The Gimblett Gravels Vineyard Syrah from Craggy Range is a fascinating red wine cuvée made from Merlot (62%), Cabernet Sauvignon (19%), Cabernet Franc (18%) and Petit Verdot (1%) and presented in the glass in a dark garnet red.
This dry red wine from New Zealand is a real treat with beef fillet with red wine sauce and potato stew, lamb carree with rosemary potatoes or with liver with steamed onions.
