The project of Norwegian ship merchant Dan Odfjell, Odfjell Estate is a result of a family endeavor combining a passion for wine and horses which ultimately led them to invest in Chile. The wines are handled by French winemaker Arnaud Hereu and their focus is on mainly red wines from their Maipo Valley Estate, Old Vine Malbec from Lontue in Curico, and Old Vine Carignan from Maule. The Odfjell winery is tucked into the hillsides of their Maipo vineyards and works on a gravity system with a portion of the winery submerged underground.
