The 2014 Wild Rock Red Merlot wine has the darkest red with purple hues. Vibrant nose of cassis, violets, boysenberry and the finest toasted oak. The Merlot wine has the richness of fruit emerges on first taste with beautifully integrated oak and fine dusty tannin creating a long and delicious finish.
The Wild Rock Red Merlot wine dominant blend is grown in the Gimblett Gravels Winegrowing District located on the ancient bed of the Ngaruroro River which changed course in 1867 to expose soils for possible cultivation.The Wild Rock Vineyards is a producer of premium crafted wines situated in New Zealand’s prime wine growing districts of Hawke’s Bay & Marlborough. Their name was inspired by the first great voyage of Captain James Cook & Sir Joseph Banks to New Zealand where they espied the wild rock formations along its coastline from the sea back in 1769.
The 2014 Wild Rock Red Merlot wine is ideal with duck dishes, creamy cheeses like Brie, barbequed meats with a hint of smoke, and mushroom or green herb based pasta dishes.
