The 2015 La Croix de Beaucaillou wine is alluring, seductive style, with mulled fig and boysenberry fruit carried by velvety structure. The 2015 La Croix de Beaucaillou has a very composed bouquet that captures the fruité of the vintage, almost lush, pure black cherries intermingling with cranberry and blueberry. There is a patina of new oak to be subsumed so it will certainly deserve three or four years in bottle. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin on the entry, cloaked by layers of slightly toasty black fruit laced with cedar, white pepper and a touch of Lapsang Souchong.

This St-Julien wine is very harmonious with great depth while maintaining superb precision on the finish. What a superb deuxième vin. The 2015 La Croix de Beaucaillou wine is a blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot.

The 2020 Le Petit Ducru De Ducru Beaucaillou wine is an introduction to the style of its elders, the Grand Vin of Ducru Beaucaillou and La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou. Endowed with its own style, this Saint-Julien wine presents the same attention from the team during the vegetative cycle of the vine, the same uncompromising selection and the same rigorous vinification as the other two wines of the estate.

The 2020 Le Petit Ducru de Ducru-Beaucaillou displays a beautiful, deep purple colour. The aromatic bouquet is sustained by intense aromas of red and black fruit. Scents of crushed violets are enhanced by a touch of mocha. This Le Petit Ducru de Ducru-Beaucaillou is a generous wine with a velvety texture. The expression of ripe fruits meets a vibrant acidity and the marriage between fruits and spices continues into the finish. This cuvée is impressively refined.

The 2014 Les Fiefs de Lagrange wine is a classic Bordeaux red as well as a textbook St Julien. A second wine from the Château Lagrange, Les Fiefs de Lagrange is surely one of the best deals. This 2014 Fiefs de Lagrange wine is a frank, scrumptious, accessible Saint-Julien, and it has character. This Second wine of Chateau Lagrange has a very aromatic character of delicious, crispy and intense red berries. The attack is unctuous, fruity and is carried by a smooth, creamy and elegant structure. This is easy-drinking but well made Saint Julien wine to enjoy over four or five years.

The 2016 Les Griffons de Pichon Baron wine has a deep garnet-purple color. This 2016 Les Griffons de Pichon Baron gives aromas of tar, sautéed herbs and earth over a cassis and baked cherries core. The palate is medium to full-bodied, firm and chewy, finishing with an herbal lift. This wine offers classic Pauillac aromatics, and possesses a medium to full-bodied, concentrated, backward vibe that’s going to benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age.

This is closer to the signature of the grand vin than that of the Tourelles de Longueville as it comes from soil with a higher gravel content. The 2016 Les Griffons de Pichon Baron is quite powerful and dense. Aging, and specifically, the barrel regime of 18 months in oak (60% new) has left the 2016 with a heavy toast torrefaction quality that at present overpowers the dark fruit and Cabernet aromatics the wine showed from barrel.

This Les Tourelles de Longueville wine has dark red cherry, red plum, tobacco, menthol and licorice are all laced together in this creamy, wonderfully expressive, silky Pauillac. The 2014 Sapience, vinified by Champagne Marguet, is a blend of 50% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot Meunier and 17% Pinot Noir. As the dominant varietal, the Chardonnay plays the keyboard of pome and stone fruits, which it emulsifies with the finest lemon oil. Floral notes in the overtone range of chestnut blossom set gossamer accents that are countered beyond the fruit by sublime spice of salty Piedmont hazelnuts. Cut, slightly oxidized red apple, mace and shortbread unite fruit and phenolic in joyful harmony and let expectantly lead the lips to the cup. The Marguet Sapience Premier Cru 2010 has a straw yellow, bright and clear color.

On the nose, the Sapience is carried by the ultra-fine mousseux that as an aromatic super-spreader immediately fully lined the palate with this ambrosial nectar. Energetic and punchy, it has decent thrust on the palate with simultaneous nobility and elegance. It combines the fine fruit with noble contouring tannin and a melange of citrus, yellow stone fruit and dark berry fruits and a stylistically perfectly applied oxidation note. Pure finesse carried by a profound bass that unpacks with immense inner density on the palate like a Win-Zip file. An ambrosial equilibrium of the first order with epic length and miles of cool finish. Hedonists drink it immediately, long-suffering experts in a few years.
