The Toso Asti Spumante wine is made from Moscato grapes grown on hills in the South of Piedmont, Italy. An early picking insures a higher acidity and a more floral bouquet. The 2019 Tyrrell’s Beside Broke Road Heathcote Shiraz wine is a bright fresh example of varietal and regional character. The grapes for our Beside Broke Road Shiraz from Heathcote in central Victoria, a dry central Victorian climate with cool nights and warm days which make this region one of the best sites for growing shiraz in Australia. The fruit was picked in the cool of the night and transported to our Hunter Valley winery without crushing the berries. This reduces the extraction of overt tannin in favour of more fruit freshness and vibrancy. After fermentation the maturation has been in older French oak barriques in the Tyrrell’s barrel shed which softened the wine without adding oak flavour.
