The Boschendal 1685 Merlot wine has the aromas of rich red cherry, blueberry and plum notes with a hint of dark chocolate. Good fruit intensity. On the palate the Merlot has a rich red cherry plum and pronounced ripe mulberry flavours. This Merlot wine has an elegant cool-climate style of wine with intensity of fruit and length. The Boschendal 1685 Merlot wine has a good natural balance between primary fruit aromas, colour and structure extraction, rounded and integrated by subtle oak aging from larger 300-litre barrels.

This 1685 Cabernet Sauvignon wine pairs well with hard cheeses, especially cheddar. For the meat lover, roast lamb is a suitable partner for the wine as well.

The 2019 Boschendal 1685 Shiraz wine has the aromas of dark berries and exotic spice from oak with cool-climate pepper spice. On the palate, the Shiraz wine is generous, deep black fruit and riper vintage fruit expression with pepper spice. Richness and juiciness with a round, integrated fruit core and silky ripe tannins. The Boschendal 1685 Shiraz wine shows elegant freshness and length with lingering fruit on the finish.

The 2019 vintage pairs well with hard cheeses, especially cheddar. For the meat lover, roast lamb is a suitable partner for the wine as well.

The 2019 Boschendal Nicolas wine is a blend brimming with character, each wine component is outstanding in its own. The 2018 Bouchard Pere & Fils Bourgogne Pinot Noir La Vignee is a youthful Pinot Noir, majoring on summer berry fruit and firm, chalky tannins. It’s fairly serious for the level but works well with food and can take a light chill. A summer wine for red Burgundy lovers.

The 2018 Bouchard Pere & Fils Bourgogne Pinot Noir La Vignee has a deep dark red colour with black tinged edges and a bright red hue. Fragrant violet, red cherry and strawberry scents fill the nostrils followed by spicy cedar, a hint of earth and fresh herb notes. Light in body, fresh and very savoury, the palate has delectable red cherry and winter strawberry fruits which overlay subtle spicy cedar, light earth and infusions of fresh herbs. This pinot noir wine is elegant, refined feel with finely integrated tannins, bright acidity and a medium to long finish. Drink over the next 3-4 years.

The 2017 Bouchard Pere & Fils Chambolle Musigny wine has an intense and delicate bouquet with notes of red fruits, sweet spices and mocha. sleek and suave, with great finesse. This French red wine is tender and delicate, with an elegant structure, this is a wine with great charm. Good ageing potential.

The Bouchard Pere & Fils Dom. Beaune Greves Vigne de l’Enfant Jesus 2008, has garnet colour with brown and purple shades. Deep nose developing flavours of ripe black fruit and spices. Dense and rich mouth, with a structure of racy tannins and lingering velvety finish.

This Beaune 1er cru “Grèves Vigne de L’Enfant Jésus” Domaine 2017 from Bouchard Père & Fils takes its name from a historical anecdote linked to the Carmelite Marguerite du Saint-Sacrement. Indeed, she is said to have predicted the birth of the future King of France despite the infertility of his mother, Anne of Austria. This vineyard took the name of “Vigne de L’Enfant Jésus” following the birth of Louis XIV. Sold in 1791 during the sale of national assets, this terroir, with an east/south-east exposure on very gravelly clay-limestone soil, has since been the monopoly of the Bouchard Père & Fils company.

This wine has a strong wood and menthol elements all but dominate the earthy and spicy red dark pinot fruit scents. The sleek, intense and well-defined medium-bodied flavors exude evident minerality onto the much more complex and persistent finale where the wood telegraphed by the nose reemerges. This is really quite good though note that my predicted range offers the benefit of the doubt that the generous wood will ultimately be successfully integrated.

The Bouchard Pere & Fils Gevrey Chambertin 2015 wine has garnet color with purple shades. Intense bouquet developing colour with purple shades. Intense bouquet developing flavours of red fruit (raspberry, strawberry jam) entwined with delicate oaky hints. Refined and fleshy mouth, with harmonious tanins.

The Bouchard Pere & Fils Moulin-a-Vent 2011 has floral and ripe aromas. On the palate appealing through the skill blend of its structure anf fleshiness. Perfect with grilled or roasted meat and robustly flavoured cheese. This wine has a blend of 100% Gamay.

The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Village exhibits notes of sweet raspberry fruit, spices and smoky oak, followed by a medium to full-bodied palate with a juicy core of fruit, chewy tannins and appreciable amplitude and power. This hails from an old-vine parcel that Bouchard has purchased for many years and which contains an appreciable percentage of Pinot Gris–not uncommon in Vosne-Romanée.

The Cap Roya Rouge Bordeaux Superieur 2015 wine has a red ruby colour with subtle tints of purple. Expressive and complex nose with ripe berries aromas mixed with spicy notes (pepper & liquorice). The palate is full, round and deep. Tannins are velvety and provide a good mouth filling texture up to the finish which is marked by spicy and red fruit notes.

The 2020 Cap Royal Rouge Bordeaux Superieur wine has a beautiful red colour with garnet glints. This Cap Royal Rouge wine has an expressive and complex nose, with primary aromas of toast, vanilla and ripe red fruits. After aeration, secondary notes of menthol and spice mixed with cedar develop.

On the palate, the mouth feel is rich and silky with elegant tannins. The 2020 Cap Royal Rouge Bordeaux Superieur wine finish is long, aromatic and delicious, structured and oaky yet always maintaining finesse

The Cap Royal Bordeaux Supérieur is a ‘sum of its parts’ sort of wine. Jean-René Matignon, winemaker at the renowned Chateau Pichon Baron, is in charge of the wine each vintage and uses his extensive connections in Bordeaux to source grapes from vineyards he sees fit for the year’s blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot.

The Second Wine of the prestigious Premier Grand Cru Classé – Château Lafite-Rothschild – the Carruades de Lafite 2010 reflects the identity of the great terroirs of Pauillac.

The 2010 Carruades de Lafite wine offers a smoky nose and a fleshy sensation with dark plum, charcoal and coffee notes. These are the characteristics of a nice grip on the finish which reveals a sensation of persistent plum skin in this second wine from Pauillac. The Carruades de Lafite wine displays much of the same lead pencil, charcoal and black currant notes of its bigger sister, although it is forward, precocious and far less structured than the grand vin. Nevertheless, this wine, which can be drunk now, will cellar beautifully for at least 20-25 more years.

This 2010 Carruades De Lafite has a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42.5% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot.

The 2015 Carruades de Lafite wine has a satisfying purity on the nose. This Carruades de Lafite has a blackberry and briary, a distant, cold slate-like note just underneath, with the new oak. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. There is moderate depth to this slightly foursquare and conservative Carruades, but there is also plenty of freshness and it has an appealing, unassuming finish that is both harmonious and precise.

This 2015 Carruades De Lafite has a blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc.

The Second Wine of the prestigious Premier Grand Cru Classé – Château Lafite-Rothschild – the Carruades de Lafite 2016 reflects the identity of the great terroirs of Pauillac.

The 2016 Carruades de Lafite wine has a velvety tannins coalesce with the black plum and berry fruits. This Carruades de Lafite is juicy and perfumed, with notes of spice and dark fruits as well as intense final acidity. It has an attractive bouquet with smoke and tobacco infused black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin. This Pauillac is rather sophisticated (a great representation of the terroir) with fine and well-integrated tannins. Freshness and precision are waiting for us in every sip. A classic and solid Carruades.

This 2016 Carruades De Lafite has a blend of 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 49% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot this year that matured in around 20-25% new oak.

The 2018 Carruades de Lafite wine has a deep garnet-purple colored, it comes skipping out of the glass with bright, cheery scents of redcurrant jelly, blackcurrant pastilles and Morello cherries with hints of candied violets, pencil shavings, menthol and crushed rocks. This Carruades de Lafite wine is a medium-bodied and elegantly styled, with layers of crunchy red and black fruits. This Pauillac wine is beautifully ripe with fine-grained texture and loads of freshness, finishing long and mineral laced.

This second wine of Lafite is the 2018 Carruades De Lafite has a blend of 56.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc.
