The 2015 Chateau Rieussec wine reveals a bright, pale straw gold color and is a little closed at this youthful stage. This Chateau Rieussec wine offers wonderful purity and depth, featuring notes of lemon marmalade, orange blossoms, beeswax and acacia honey with hints of preserved kumquats and peach compote. This Rieussec Sauternes wine is very elegant and fine in the medium to full-bodied mouth, it features a racy backbone cutting through the earthy and citrus layers, finishing long and spicy. The 2015 Chateau Rieussec is a great Sauternes wine with lots of potential so my suggestion is to resist the temptation of popping a bottle. A phenomenal white wine with dried pineapple and pear aromas and flavors. Full, very sweet. The Rieussec 2015 has an incredible depth and power.

The 2015 Chateau Rieussec wine has a blend of 86% Semillon and 14% Sauvignon Blanc.

The 2014 Siran has a very refined bouquet with blackberry, briary and light tertiary aromas. There is fine precision here, understated compared to the Sirans of old. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and a keen line of acidity. Linear in style and a little conservative towards the finish, but showing freshness from start to finish. Edouard Miailhe, proprietor of Siran, has really upped the ante here and this 2014 is just a classic Bordeaux claret that should drink well from the start.

The 2016 Chateau Sirius Bordeaux Rouge wine is surprisingly positive effort for an inexpensive entry-level Bordeaux. Although I might’ve expected a bit more tannic grip from a 2016 Bordeaux, this wasn’t a disappointment in any way – hell, when it comes to inexpensive Bordeaux wines, I’ve had much more disappointing wines from much better appellations. This was a quite polished but nevertheless well-made effort with good overall balance, never coming across as excessively oaked or overdone, nor diluted or underwhelming. Stylistically this was very accessible yet at the same time rather serious. A nice allrounder for everyday food and approachable enough to be drunk on its own.

This majestic bluestone winery and vineyard property is a living testament to the colourful history and pioneering spirit attached to Australia’s pre-eminent wine region. Now, thanks to the passion and dedication of its new owners, the Geber family, this iconic Barossa estate is celebrating a new lease of life. Built in the late 1880s, Château Tanunda is home to some of the earliest plantings of vines in the Barossa Valley, dating back to the 1840s. Château Tanunda’s origins go back to the 1860s and the decimation of Europe’s vineyards by the phylloxera plague. Sensing opportunity in Europe’s pain, the three founders of Château Tanunda built a Bavarian-style Château dedicated to the production of fine quality wines.
