The 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape Domaine de Cristia wine boasts scents of cola, raspberries and black cherries. Mainly tank-aged Grenache, with small amounts of barrel-aged Mourvèdre and Syrah, This Chateauneuf du Pape Domaine de Cristia wine is medium to full-bodied, moderately concentrated and dusted with ripe tannins. The house style is one of sandy-soil elegance, and that’s reflected in this entry-level cuvée, which finishes long and silky.

The Domaine de Cristia was established in 1942, with only two hectares of vines; at that time, all grapes were sold to négociants. When Baptiste Grangeon inherited the vineyards from his father in 1999, he was the first to bottle as Domaine de Cristia.

This 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape Domaine de Cristia wine is best paired with grilled red meats or in sauce, game, or mature cheese platter.

The 2009 Clos du Marquis wine is beautiful and young. This Clos du Marquis comes from a single vineyard in the Léoville Las Cases stable. This 2009 Clos du Marquis wine has a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and the balance Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. This 2009 Clos du Marquis is a beautiful wine offering classic Saint-Julien crème de cassis fruits as well as lots of rocky minerality, cedarwood, graphite, and spring flowers. This St-Julien wine exhibits a deep ruby purple hue along with sweet notes of creme de cassis, great purity, a full-bodied mouthfeel, and terrific texture as well as length. It should evolve for 20-25 years.

The Clos du Marquis is being positioned by Jean-Hubert Delon as a separate single vineyard wine rather than Leoville Las Cases’ second wine. The logic is simple. It has come from the same vineyard for over twenty years, and is not a true second wine in the sense that it is not made from Las Cases’ discarded cuvees.
