    The 2020 Tyrrell’s Beside Broke Road Cabernet Sauvignon is a full bodied wine. This Cabernet Sauvignon has classic lifted dark cherry and blackberry aromas with hints of violets and olive tapenade. The palate is vibrant and fresh showing off dark fruits and herbaceous varietal notes with silky tannins and a bright natural balance. The Beside Broke Road Cabernet Sauvignon wine is refined yet well constructured tannins with a sturdy medium length conclusion.

    The grapes for our Beside Broke Road Cabernet Sauvignon from Margaret River in Western Australia, Australia’s pre-eminent Cabernet Sauvignon region. This varietal has a real affinity for the soils and weather conditions in Margaret River. The fruit was picked in the cool of night and processed without crushing the berries, this reduces the extraction of overt tannin in flavour of more fruit freshness and vibrancy. Maturation took place in older French oak (10 months), ideal when trying to highlight the fruits vibrancy and structure.

    The 2021 Tyrrell’s Beside Broke Road Pinot Gris wine is a classic cool climate style showing lifted citrus notes with a hint of pear and ginger. The palate continues these citrus and pear flavours but has lovely fine grained texture and soft acid finish which is a hallmark of Pinot Gris.

    The grapes were sourced from King Valley, a cool climate high altitude region in Victoria. The fruit was harvested in the very early hours of the morning when the fruit is at its coolest, the grapes were lightly pressed and then fermented in stainless steel tanks at cool temperatures. The Australian White Wine spent some extended time on yeast lees to gain extra complexity and texture.

    The Tyrrell’s Beside Broke Road Sauvignon Blanc wine is a vibrant and expressive maritime climate style, showing lemongrass, guava and passionfruit aromas. The palate is well balanced between its vibrant citrus profile and a hint of grassy notes, with a crisp, refreshing acid profile. The Beside Broke Road Sauvignon Blanc wine from Margaret River is light, refreshing.

    The grapes were sourced from Margaret River, which is located in the far south-west corner of Western Australia, and is one of the most geographically isolated wine regions in the world. Taking advantage of the maritime influence the fruit is harvested in the early hours of the morning it is at its coolest, then the grapes were lightly pressed and then fermented in stainless steel tanks to maintain the freshness of the tropical fruit flavours.

    The 2019 Tyrrell’s Beside Broke Road Heathcote Shiraz wine is a bright fresh example of varietal and regional character. This Beside Broke Road Heathcote Shiraz wine has a core of dark plum, mulberry and chocolate balanced by fresh subtle pepper spice and flinty mineral notes. The palate has the soft rich feel of a medium to full bodied shiraz but with a vibrant fruit line that helps keep the wine lively and supple.

    The grapes for our Beside Broke Road Shiraz from Heathcote in central Victoria, a dry central Victorian climate with cool nights and warm days which make this region one of the best sites for growing shiraz in Australia. The fruit was picked in the cool of the night and transported to our Hunter Valley winery without crushing the berries. This reduces the extraction of overt tannin in favour of more fruit freshness and vibrancy. After fermentation the maturation has been in older French oak barriques in the Tyrrell’s barrel shed which softened the wine without adding oak flavour.

This 2022 Hunter Valley Semillon wine is vibrant with an abundance of citrus fruits and floral elements. The palate is medium bodied, yet intense, with great length and a brisk acidity. This Australian Semillon wine is streamlined and elegant.

    From one of the most historic wineries in Australia comes one of the country’s most unique wines: The lightning bolt of acidity that is Hunter Valley Sémillon. The Hunter Valley, north of Sydney, is Australia’s oldest wine region, and Sémillon, brought to the region in 1832 by the “father of Australian viticulture,” James Busby, has long been its best-kept secret.

    The Hunter Valley range is quintessential Tyrrell’s and quintessential Hunter. This range showcases the Hunter’s tried-and-tested varieties: Semillon, Shiraz and Chardonnay.     The 2021 Tyrrell’s Hunter Valley Shiraz wine has a vibrant purple colour, with a lifted nose showing bright red fruits and confectionary spice. This Australian Shiraz wine has a medium bodied with good depth of flavour yet still lively and fresh. Soft, savoury tannins and a crunchy acidity adds to the wines complexity. This Hunter Valley Shiraz is a wonderful example of the modern, medium bodied Hunter Valley Shiraz wine.

    The Hunter Valley Shiraz was made from grapes grown on some of the top blocks on the Tyrrell’s estate and surrounding area, which have an average vine age of 40 years and are mostly dry grown. The 2019 vintage was the third great vintage in a row for the Hunter Valley, the product of another hot, dry summer. The Hunter Valley range is quintessential Tyrrell’s and quintessential Hunter.

    This range showcases the Hunter’s tried-and-tested varieties: Semillon, Shiraz and Chardonnay. All of the wines are made to the same high standards and in the same style as our flagship Winemaker’s Selection Vat 1 Semillon, Vat 47 Chardonnay and Vat 9 Shiraz.

    The 2021 Tyrrell’s Rufus Stone Heathcote Shiraz wine has a deep, youthful red purple colour. This Rufus Stone Heathcote Australian Shiraz has a rich, chocolate, spice, sweet plum and vanilla bouquet, which returns with good power and impact on the finish. The Shiraz wine is medium to full-bodied, nicely-textured and fleshy with supple tannins and easy drinkability, although it will surely age well. The oak, alcohol and tannin levels are perfectly weighted. The Rufus Stone Heathcote Shiraz wine is one of Tyrrell’s Wines top non-Hunter reds. Sourced from vineyards in Heathcote.

    The story of the Rufus Stone dates back almost 1,000 years to medieval England. King William II, known as Rufus, is believed to have been killed by an errant arrow fired by Sir Walter Tyrrell – an ancestor of the Tyrrell family. Today, the site of this infamous incident is marked by the Rufus Stone. Since 1997, our top non-Hunter red wines have been named in honor of Tyrrell’s historical association with the Rufus Stone.

    The vintage conditions for our Rufus Stone Heathcote Shiraz were just about perfect, with warm, dry days followed by cool nights, allowing the fruit to gain the ripe, full flavors of modern Australian Shiraz while maintaining the fresh mineral line and tension of the classic European styles.

    The Tyrrell’s VAT 47 Hunter Chardonnay wine is fresh powerful, but restrained white peach style with a subtle lees influence. This Australian Chardonnay wine is intense and well structured, with subtle oak. A continued evolution in style towards a more delicate and textural Chardonnay. The nose shows delicate citrus and white stonefruit with a hint of oak and sulphide lift. The palate has the generosity of Chardonnay in a toned down form. VAT 47 Hunter Chardonnay wine is balanced well with the fresh acidity and slight textural element from extended time on yeast lees.

    Murray Tyrrell created the Winemaker’s Selection range back in 1965, when, with the assistance of Len Evans, he set out to determine the best wines from each vintage. He named these wines after the casks in which they were matured; for instance, the first Chardonnay we made went into cask number 47, so it became Vat 47 Chardonnay, or Pinot Chardonnay as it was then called.

    This 2021 VAT 47 Hunter Chardonnay wine is best paired with Cedar Plank Salmon, Ahi Tuna, or Brunch of Salmon Benedict.

    The Tyrrell’s VAT 8 Shiraz Cabernet wine is a modern style of Australian Red that also respects the tradition of using varietal blending to make a more rounded wine. This 2019 VAT 8 Shiraz Cabernet wine shows intense plum fruit sweetness from the Shiraz with dark berry and chocolate characters. The Cabernet component adds to the length & fullness of the wine. A composed and compact red blend with a soulful mid-weight to it, this excellent wine showcases a plethora of black fruit characters as well as dark & stony mineral aromas with added whiffs of dried wood & spices. The palate boasts a core of dark cherry fruit, smooth & purposeful tannins, and incredible depth & layering of flavors.

    The Tyrrell’s VAT 8 Shiraz Cabernet finishes long & strong and you can choose to enjoy this now although careful cellaring of 10 to 15 years will be rewarded with futher flavor evolutions.

    The Vasse Felix Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 has the aromas of red currants, tobacco and cedar, green stalks, coffee beans, quite mulchy and herbaceous. The palate showed blackcurrants, green beans, coffee beans, leafy eucalypt and cigar box.     The Vasse Felix Cane Cut Semillon 2017 wine has a pale straw with a green tinge color. On the nose its fragrant notes of lemon and lime, honeysuckle, dried apricots, waxy crayon, crème brulee and sultana. This wine has a bright and zesty lime marmalade interweaves with a fine drying lemongrass texture. A driving natural acidity carries the concentrated sweetness effortlessly to a mouth-watering finish.

    This wine is produced from Semillon using the Cane Cut method, where each fruiting cane is detached from the vine. The bunches are left hanging until the fruit has dried and concentrated in flavour and sugar.

    The 2022 Vasse Felix Chardonnay wine is the quintessential Margaret River Chardonnay, made from a selection of Vasse Felix’s premier plots of powerful Chardonnay. Made in the modern Margaret River style of elegance, power and restraint, with the wild complexity which distinguishes Vasse Felix Chardonnay.

    The White wine has a pale straw with a green and golden tinge. This 2022 Vasse Felix Chardonnay wine has a lovely waxy, green tea candle note lifts in the subtle white peach, pear and green plum perfume, accompanied by complex floral aromas of Jasmine and camomile and sexy hints of rock flint and vanilla bean. More savoury complexity will develop with time in the bottle. Rich core framed by a delicate dry structure. The satin palate features complex flavours of purified lemon, a hint of ginger, custard and delicate peach, and finishes with a lovely dry, chalky feel.

Background notes of flint and ocean breeze reveal themselves with time.
