A blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot, the outstanding 2008 Chateau Calon Segur wine offers a healthy ruby color as well as just a touch of maturity in its classic Saint-Estèphe bouquet of black cherries, ground herbs, dried earth, and cedar. This Chateau Calon Segur is a medium-bodied beauty is seamless, perfectly balanced, and has nicely integrated acidity as well as still-present tannins.
The Chateau Calon Segur is the oldest of the leading Saint Estephe. In the 18th century, the house belonged to the famous Marquis de Ségur and while he proprietor of Lafite and Latour, it was always said that his heart was at Calon. That is why we still see a heart shape on the labels.
