The Cap Royal Rouge Bordeaux Superieur 2018 has a beautiful red colour with garnet glints An expressive and complex nose, with primary aromas of toast, vanilla and ripe red fruits. After aeration, secondary notes of menthol and spice mixed with cedar develop. On the palate, the mouth feel is rich and silky with elegant tannins. The finish is long, aromatic and delicious, structured and oaky yet always maintaining finesse
Cap Royal Bordeaux Supérieur is a ‘sum of its parts’ sort of wine. Jean-René Matignon, winemaker at the renowned Chateau Pichon Baron, is in charge of the wine each vintage and uses his extensive connections in Bordeaux to source grapes from vineyards he sees fit for the year’s blend. This allows him to select the best fruit to achieve his vinous goal without being limited to one plot of land. The 2018 vintage is 75% merlot and 25% cabernet sauvignon. Intensely coloured with a nose of blackberry, blueberry and spice, the wine expresses more dark fruits, vanilla and toasted oak on the palate. It’s powerful and rich, yet refreshing.
