This Alter Ego wine has intense aromas of blackcurrants, cedar and ripe tobacco with hints of violets, following through to a full-bodied palate with extremely refined tannins that are well-integrated into the wine and are long and subtle at the finish. Such precision and harmony with structure.

This second wine of Chateau Palmer might be the richest, most concentrated second wine out here, and truthfully, it tastes like a Grand Vin. It is one of the best Alter Ego cuvee since its creation. A Margaux that should be given a long-term lease in your cellar.

The 2020 Alter Ego de Palmer is a sensational wine in its own right. This Alter Ego de Palmer wine is charming on the nose, deep and seductive, expressive and richly scented. Juicy and succulent but with a richness in terms of texture and depth. Seductive, defined and refined with a chalky, grip to the tannins. Feels rich and charming at the same time with blackcurrant, black cherry, blueberry, pomegranate and a touch of balsamic with an undercurrent of crushed stones and liquorice. A lovely second wine of Chateau Palmer with clear ageing potential.

This 2020 Alter Ego de Palmer wine has a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot. A Margaux wine with great balance from an excellent vintage.

This Chateau Angludet wine has a blend of Merlot 38% – Cabernet Sauvignon 50% – Petit Verdot 12%.

The 2019 Chateau Carbonnieux wine has a deep purplish ruby hue to go with a brilliant nose of red and black currants, spring flowers, spicy oak, and hints of tobacco. It’s the finest wine I’ve tasted from this estate.

Founded in the 13th century, Chateau Carbonnieux is located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation and is one of the oldest wine estates in Bordeaux. In 1956, Marc Perrin acquired the chateau, which became a Classified Growth in 1959 for its Red and White wines.

The 2019 Chateau Dufort Vivens is a brilliant Margaux wine. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of blackberries, licorice, sweet soil tones, spices and rose petals. This Chateau Durfort Vivens is a full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with a fleshy core of fruit, rich, powdery tannins and a lively spine of acidity. It concludes with a long and penetrating finish. The blend of this wine is dominated by fully 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, which lends the wine immense nobility.

A polished, sophisticated Bordeaux wine. This 2019 Chateau Durfort Vivens was fermented in a combination of vat and amphora. This Margaux wine feels a bit light. The 2019 vintage is among 2/3ds in new oak and 1/3rd in terracotta. Inky dark fruit, grilled herbs, lavender, pine, spice notes and a range of string Cabernet inflections are some of the signatures.

Under the leadership of the Dumas de Fombrauge family, Chateau Fombrauge has become a real model for Bordeaux viticulture. This Bernard Magrez property shines today as one of the most beautiful of Saint-Emilion.

The 2018 Chateau Gloria wine has a deep garnet purple colored. Aromatic black fruit, finely scented without excess sweetness or ripeness. This Chateau Gloria wine is full-bodied with a firm texture of ripe, grainy tannins. This St-Julien wine has a lively line cutting through the dense, savory layers, finishing on a lingering spicy note. A very classy St Julien wine that may warrant a higher score down the line.

This Chateau was created in the 1950’s by the late Henri Martin who was also the regisseur of Chateau Latour. Along with big brother Saint Pierre, the quality here has improved massively in the last few years and this is a top St Julien performer these days. Chateau Gloria is fast becoming one of the most exciting insider wines of the entire Bordeaux region, and that rare species of a non-classified St-Julien.
