    This 2021 Pugilist Cabernet Sauvignon wine is sourced from two vineyard sites in Langhorne Creek, both of which are above the flood plain. Soils are of sandy loam with some iron rich red soils. Both vineyards are trellised and spur pruned to produce low yields which ensure balance and flavour. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks the wine spends 10 months in French oak barrels.

    The beautiful region of McLaren Vale is bounded by the Gulf to the West and the various ranges to the East and North. Geologically one of the most diverse regions on earth, it has long been the home to some of Australia’s finest expressions of Shiraz. Our fruit comes from the Moray Park vineyard in the McLaren Flat sub-region. Low yielding and ultra-intense, we handle the fruit gently to capture the delicious berry fruit character, overlaid with subtle wood-spice.

    Tinto Figuero was born from a thousand vines, which were received by José María García and Milagros Figuero in the year of their wedding, 1961. The Figuero philosophy is based on utmost respect and minimal intervention in the winemaking process. Therefore, nature is allowed to follow its course at every stage, accompanying the wines every step of the way. Winemakers Jean-François Hébrard and Óscar Rodríguez form an essential partnership to bring together the two philosophies of “know-how” and “laissez-faire” as Figuero’s way of understanding viticulture and oenology.

This Tinto Figuero Vinas Viejas is very complex nose with a large presence of red fruit (raspberry, currant) with spicy notes (coriander seeds, pink pepper), floral touches (violet, lilac) and roasted (coffee and cigar tobacco).

The Monferrato wine region lies below the River Po in the southeast corner of Piedmont, in northwestern Italy. Like Langhe, this zone received its own DOC in 1994. It follows similar relaxed rules allowing the blending of native varieties with international grapes.
