    The 2021 Tyrrell’s Hunter Valley Shiraz wine has a vibrant purple colour, with a lifted nose showing bright red fruits and confectionary spice. This Australian Shiraz wine has a medium bodied with good depth of flavour yet still lively and fresh. Soft, savoury tannins and a crunchy acidity adds to the wines complexity. This Hunter Valley Shiraz is a wonderful example of the modern, medium bodied Hunter Valley Shiraz wine.

    The Hunter Valley Shiraz was made from grapes grown on some of the top blocks on the Tyrrell’s estate and surrounding area, which have an average vine age of 40 years and are mostly dry grown. The 2019 vintage was the third great vintage in a row for the Hunter Valley, the product of another hot, dry summer. The Hunter Valley range is quintessential Tyrrell’s and quintessential Hunter.

    This range showcases the Hunter’s tried-and-tested varieties: Semillon, Shiraz and Chardonnay. All of the wines are made to the same high standards and in the same style as our flagship Winemaker’s Selection Vat 1 Semillon, Vat 47 Chardonnay and Vat 9 Shiraz.

    The 2021 Tyrrell’s Rufus Stone Heathcote Shiraz wine has a deep, youthful red purple colour. This Rufus Stone Heathcote Australian Shiraz has a rich, chocolate, spice, sweet plum and vanilla bouquet, which returns with good power and impact on the finish. The Shiraz wine is medium to full-bodied, nicely-textured and fleshy with supple tannins and easy drinkability, although it will surely age well. The oak, alcohol and tannin levels are perfectly weighted. The Rufus Stone Heathcote Shiraz wine is one of Tyrrell’s Wines top non-Hunter reds. Sourced from vineyards in Heathcote.

    The story of the Rufus Stone dates back almost 1,000 years to medieval England. King William II, known as Rufus, is believed to have been killed by an errant arrow fired by Sir Walter Tyrrell – an ancestor of the Tyrrell family. Today, the site of this infamous incident is marked by the Rufus Stone. Since 1997, our top non-Hunter red wines have been named in honor of Tyrrell’s historical association with the Rufus Stone.

    The vintage conditions for our Rufus Stone Heathcote Shiraz were just about perfect, with warm, dry days followed by cool nights, allowing the fruit to gain the ripe, full flavors of modern Australian Shiraz while maintaining the fresh mineral line and tension of the classic European styles.

    The Tyrrell’s VAT 8 Shiraz Cabernet wine is a modern style of Australian Red that also respects the tradition of using varietal blending to make a more rounded wine. This 2019 VAT 8 Shiraz Cabernet wine shows intense plum fruit sweetness from the Shiraz with dark berry and chocolate characters. The Cabernet component adds to the length & fullness of the wine. A composed and compact red blend with a soulful mid-weight to it, this excellent wine showcases a plethora of black fruit characters as well as dark & stony mineral aromas with added whiffs of dried wood & spices. The palate boasts a core of dark cherry fruit, smooth & purposeful tannins, and incredible depth & layering of flavors.

    The Tyrrell’s VAT 8 Shiraz Cabernet finishes long & strong and you can choose to enjoy this now although careful cellaring of 10 to 15 years will be rewarded with futher flavor evolutions.

    The Vasse Felix Cane Cut Semillon 2017 wine has a pale straw with a green tinge color. On the nose its fragrant notes of lemon and lime, honeysuckle, dried apricots, waxy crayon, crème brulee and sultana. This wine has a bright and zesty lime marmalade interweaves with a fine drying lemongrass texture. A driving natural acidity carries the concentrated sweetness effortlessly to a mouth-watering finish.

    This wine is produced from Semillon using the Cane Cut method, where each fruiting cane is detached from the vine. The bunches are left hanging until the fruit has dried and concentrated in flavour and sugar.

    The 2016 Vasse Felix Tom Cullity Cabernet Sauvignon Malbec wine opens beautifully with cherry pip, cassis, christmas cake, orange rind, pot pourri and hints of Australian forest floor. The palate is incredibly luscious, rich fruit builds into a long, fine, powdery tannin structure. Refreshing floral notes are expressed throughout the palate with lingering blackcurrant and blackberry. This wine is medium bodied, the complexity of ocean and nori influence pairs beautifully with notes of chocolate, polished leather and exotic spices. An elegant, palpable and clean dry finish with earthy power and wild berry custard tart rounding out this complex palate.

    Vasse Felix, Margaret River’s founding wine estate, was established by Dr Thomas Brendan Cullity in 1967. Among his first plantings were Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec vines, from which he produced the estate’s first red wine. The Tom Cullity descends from these original vines and represents the pinnacle of Vasse Felix.

    The 2019 Villa Girardi Bure Alto Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore wine has intense ruby red. The nose is rich and complex with distinct notes of cherries. The Italian red wine has a fine structure and is pleasantly fruity with hints of spice. This Villa Girardi Valpolicella Sup. Bure Alto is a full-bodied wine and warming, great length on the palate. Wonderful ripe cherry fruit flavors.

    The vineyards that provide grapes for the “Bure Alto”, are on average about 40 years old and are in the classical field of Valpolicella. After fermentation this Ripasso stored for 18 months in large Slovenian oak casks and then for a further 6 months in the bottle.

    The Villa Girardi family estate lies in the heart of the historical Valpolicella wine region. The Bure Alto is know as the baby Amarone and is matured for 18 months in Slovenian oak barrels and then a further 6 months in bottle.

    The Villa Girardi Bure Alto Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore wine is best paired with Beef or Veal.
