This 2021 Pugilist Cabernet Sauvignon wine is sourced from two vineyard sites in Langhorne Creek, both of which are above the flood plain. Soils are of sandy loam with some iron rich red soils. Both vineyards are trellised and spur pruned to produce low yields which ensure balance and flavour. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks the wine spends 10 months in French oak barrels.

The 2020 Tinto Figuero Crianza wine has a great aromatic intensity with lots of freshness. The red fruit stands out in a wide range of spices such as vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and pepper, rounded off by toffee and tobacco from the oak aging. Wide mouth opening with very good tannic structure prolonged by great acidity. The whole aromatic range perceived on the nose is found again on the palate.

This Tinto Figuero Noble is wonderfully intense and complex on the nose, with aromas of raspberry, currants and plum, as well as liquorice, black pepper and cinnamon. There is also something floral here, with balsamic and roasted coffee beans on the finish. The palate is powerful and dense with great tannic structure and brilliant acidity – the perfect combination for ageing. Elegant and balanced, this is an outstanding wine that will keep for many years to come.
Tinto Figuero was born from a thousand vines, which were received by José María García and Milagros Figuero in the year of their wedding, 1961. The Figuero philosophy is based on utmost respect and minimal intervention in the winemaking process. Therefore, nature is allowed to follow its course at every stage, accompanying the wines every step of the way. Winemakers Jean-François Hébrard and Óscar Rodríguez form an essential partnership to bring together the two philosophies of “know-how” and “laissez-faire” as Figuero’s way of understanding viticulture and oenology.
